Markus Mattson is first Finnish Goaltender in NHL. He was drafted to Islanders year 1977 and also to WHA. Later same year he moved to Canada from Finland to play in Winnipeg Jets (WHA).  He played in north America total 7 years, 5 seasons in NHL. In NHL he played 92 games and in WHA 68 games. 

You can think he was just some never heard goalie for you, but he was one of the first NHL Finnish players in history and made lot of pioneer work for next generations. Today Finnish goalies are well known on hockey map and somebody have to be first and when you are first you trowel the road for players how will play after you!

Markus Mattson get biggest attention on his career when he stopped Wayne Gretzky's amazing point period, witch was 51 games long. Mattson was on Kings goal and Gretzky didn't make any points. You can think about headlines in Los Angeles newspapers next morning. 

Markus Mattson is chosen to Finnish hockey hall of fame. He is Finnish hockeylion #111.
